How to Add a Checkpoint

Short answer

During a Track, tap ADD CHECKPOINT. Without a running Track, use the available Checkpoint creation surface when presented. STALKR captures the current GPS position when the sheet opens.

Steps

  1. Wait for a usable GPS fix.
  2. Open Add Checkpoint.
  3. Choose a type and optional details.
  4. Save, then optionally attach a photo.

How this works

A Checkpoint is captured at the current GPS fix, and the coordinate is taken when the creation sheet opens rather than when you save. Without a usable fix there is nothing to capture and the Checkpoint cannot be saved.

Where it belongs depends on when you made it. Created during a Track it belongs to that Track; created on its own it is a standalone personal Checkpoint in your library.

Checkpoints are yours rather than Crew objects, so they are not published to a Crew the way a Marker is, and creating one is a server write that needs connectivity.

What happens next

The Checkpoint is saved with its type, name, and note, and photos can be attached to it afterwards.

Common problems

  • A usable GPS fix is required before a Checkpoint can be captured.
  • Creation and edits need connectivity and are not queued offline.
