How Zone Alerts Work
Zone monitoring decides whether STALKR evaluates crossings; Enter and Leave toggles decide which real transitions alert. Map Layers visibility only decides whether the shape is drawn.

- Open the Zone details.
- Enable monitoring.
- Enable Enter and/or Leave alerts.
- Grant Always location and notifications for background alerts.
How this works
Three settings have to line up. Monitoring decides whether crossings are evaluated at all, the Enter and Leave toggles decide which transitions alert, and Map Layers visibility decides only whether the shape is drawn.
The first trustworthy observation after monitoring starts primes a baseline silently. Being inside a Zone when monitoring begins is not an entry; only a real transition afterwards counts.
Evaluation while the app is backgrounded uses background location updates and iOS region monitoring. Both need Always access, force-quitting stops ordinary background updates, and the OS decides when the app is allowed to run.
Polygon Zones and Zone alerts require Pro in the current plan matrix, and remote Crew notification still depends on notification permission and delivery.
What happens next
The saved change appears in the relevant map, library, or sharing scope when the service confirms it.
Common problems
- The first trustworthy observation primes silently; it is not treated as a crossing.
- Poor GPS, force-quit, denied Always access, disabled notifications, or delivery failure can prevent an alert.
- Hiding the Zone in Map Layers changes nothing about whether it alerts.
