What Happens When You Hide Zones
Short answer
Turning Zones off in Map Layers hides their shapes only. It does not delete them, turn off monitoring, or disable their Enter/Leave alert settings.

- Open Map Layers.
- Turn Zones off or on.
How this works
Map Layers is a drawing control. Hiding Zones removes the shapes from the map and changes nothing about the Zones themselves — monitoring keeps evaluating and Enter and Leave alerts keep firing.
That is deliberate. A Zone you hid because it cluttered the map is still a Zone you asked to be told about, and silently disabling it would be the more surprising behaviour.
To stop the alerts, open the Zone and turn monitoring off, or turn off the specific Enter or Leave toggle.
What happens next
The saved change appears in the relevant map, library, or sharing scope when the service confirms it.
Common problems
- Hiding a Zone does not stop its alerts.
- A Zone missing from the map may simply be hidden rather than deleted.
